Have you ever thought about children in need of a meal, a home to be raised, and a school book to discover knowledge, or a new toy to replace the old broken one? All this little blessings will put a smile on their faces and is our Christian duty in Our Lord Jesus Christ to make this effort.
If you want to be part of fulfilling this duty, you can join our organization Saint Paraskeva Orthodox Charity to help raising funds for the poor children of Romania.
The St. Parascheva Charitable Organization was founded on June 16, 2010, having the purpose of assisting orphan children and those who are in a difficult socio-economic situation in Romania. With the help of God and the blessing of Archbishop Nicolae, an intense program of fundraising activities is being carried out on behalf of the cases which have already come to the organization’s attention. (The organization received 501(c)(3) status on March 11, 2011.)
At the present time there are over 350,000 children in Romania without shelter, food, and health care. We all have a responsibility toward these children. We cannot be indifferent.
Let’s help them to have a better life!
It is very easy and fun as we have the third edition of our Charity Tennis Open in Chicago on June 1-2, 2013. All proceedings from this event will be directed to the children we help in our programs.
Date: Saturday June 1 between 9.00 am – 6.00 pm and Sunday June 2 between 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm
Location: Maine Township High School 1131 S Dee Rd, Park Ridge, (Dee & Devon)
Fees : 32$ each player
Registration Closing Date: Friday, May 31st at 7:00 pm, CST
This tournament is open to all players of all skill levels and is single only play
Official drawing: Friday, May 31st at 7:00 pm, CST
Drawing will take place at Ss. Constantine & Helen Cathedral, room 201, 5410 N Newland Avenue, Chicago, IL.
8 seeded players will be placed, according to the NTRP specified in the signing up file. Last year champion and finalist will be seeded 1st and 2nd.
Format:
Considering the fact the tournament is taking place in 2 consecutive days, matches from 1st round to quarter final will be played in one day and the winner is decided after playing One set with a regular 12-point tiebreaker. Semi finals and finals will be: best of 3 sets with regular 12-point tiebreaker.
- 1st round, 2nd , 3rd, and quarter finals matches will be : one set of 6 games, with a 12- point tiebreak.(regular tiebreaker)
- Semi finals and finals will be: best of 3 sets, with a 12-point tiebreak. (regular tiebreaker)

Saturday, June 1st
- 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Welcoming the participants & Opening ceremony. Silent Auction begins. Free Coffe and cold sandwiches available, 1st round matches.
- 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm – 2nd round matches
- 2:00 pm. – 3:00 pm – 3rd round matches
- 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Quarter finals matches
- 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Semi finals matches
Sunday, June 2nd
- 3:00 pm. – Final for 3rd place
- 4:00 p.m. – Championship match. Silent Auction ends
- 6:00 p.m. – Closing Ceremony
This times are estimate and could change with weather conditions or other factors.

April 15 – We are excited to add cardio tennis and tennis clinic to this event. Players loosing in the first and second round matches have the opportunity to have fun in cardio/tennis clinic classes, with a USTA, PTR certified tennis coach. There will be 2 classes with groups up to 10 players. Classes are free and each player can be in a one hour class.
